Oh what a mess...

Since we started changing the rooms around in our house, we've been living in a pig sty - at least it feels that way. We are changing our twice-used dining room into an office (maybe with French doors later) and cleaning out the old office upstairs. This has turned out to be a huge deal. I never realized we had so much equipment and stuff in general that we aren't using. Anyhow, I'm guessing when the weather gets a bit cooler we'll be doing the garage sale thing one more time.

Not much else is new. School starts for me in two weeks, so I'm excited about having a daily purpose. On the other hand, I'm sure I'll miss not having to have one. But I always feel happier when I'm busy working anyway.

It's so hot here that the dogs sleep all day inside. What a life they have. I think they probably enjoy their lives more than we do our own. :)

Happy Fourth of July!

Wow. I've never done so much of nothing for the Fourth of July - slept late, showered, went to eat, took a nap, cleaned a bit, and then vegged in the evening. We thought about walking to our community park where they shoot off fireworks, but it's been drizzling and lightening off and on. We did walk outside with the dogs, though. I think they were more excited about being in the street in front of the house. Fortunately, we have a great view of the fireworks from our back patio, so we stood in the doorway (it was raining by this time) and watched the show.

Last weekend we visited my folks long enough to ride in a 10 mile 4th of July bike race. It was pretty fun, but I'd rather run races than bike them. Biking isn't my strongest sport. My sit bones definitely felt it later. Didn't help that all I own is a mountain bike.

** Three years later I'm adding this note to say that I was pregnant when I wrote this original blog entry. We told my parents that weekend. :) 8/9/2009
