Sea World 2008

July 3rd we went to Sea World. It was a blast!!! It's way too much to write every detail down, so I'll hit the highlights.

1. Mateo LOVED watching the shows. We thought he wouldn't be interested, but lo and behold we ended up watching three of them because he was so into it - especially the Shamu show for kids with the big furry fish costumes. It wa
s neat to see him so excited. He shakes his arms and plays air drums.

2. It poured on us for a good third of the day. But the rain cooled everything down, so that when the sun came out again it was really nice. I got a kick out of those in bathing suits running from the rain screaming. Isn't this place a water park?

3. Mat loved swimming. We only put him in the kiddie pool, but he had an absolute blast.

4. Note to Sea World staff: If you see an ADULT with dry, regular clothes on (not a bathing suit), do NOT squirt her with water in the face and on the body. That's a surefire way to for her to NOT purchase you
r dumb water squirter - no matter how hot the temperature is. It's rude and extremely irritating to get mascara/sunscreen in one's eyes, not to mention get water spots all over favorite Oakley sunglasses.

5. Mateo loves watermelon. And he loves trying to use a fork. Combine the two and you get one red and sticky kid.

6. $12 to rent a locker? Sheesh... I need to get into the locker business!

7. I still can't believe Mateo took NO nap all day. Well, he slept for the 5 minute walk across the parking lot to the car. And that was at 5:15pm.

8. We fed a "blind" sea lion. However, we got suspicious that there's a scheme in operation when we noticed several others closing their eyes and opening their mouths for food. Hmm... (Actually the one we fed was really blind... though we still believe the other ones are copying his example, as he was popular.)

9. Mateo does a perfect impression of sea lions. Arr! Arr! Arr!

10. Mat also loves fish. He gets really excited when they swim close to him.

We had a really great time - truly fun. No arguing, no crying, no whining - and not from Mateo either! ;-) He really was an angel. We couldn't have gotten luckier with our kid. (I hope this doesn't jinx me for his teenage years!)
